Don’t forget to bring your concealed weapon to the Republican convention
I’m gad I’m not going to this summer’s GOP convention in Tampa. I don’t want to get shot by a Republican.
Thanks to Florida Gov. Rick Scott, the gathering is likely to be a dress rehearsal for our next civil war.
On one side, liberals chanting political slogans. On the other, Republicans packing heat.
Guess who’s going to win?
Scott rejected a proposal from the Tampa city council this week that would have outlawed carrying concealed weapons outside the convention center. Floridians would still be free to carry their Barettas around the rest of the Trayvon Martin State.
Scott considers even that modest safeguard a gross infringement on the 2nd Amendment.
Citizens will need their weapons if the protests turn violent, Scott reasons.
“It is unclear how disarming law-abiding citizens would better protect them from the dangers and threats posed by those who would flout the law,” he told the Tampa Times. “It is at just such times that the constitutional right to self-defense is most precious and must be protected from government overreach.”
I feel safer already.
