I’m mad as hell
The Obamanator has been trying very hard to be nice.
As friends and family have counseled me for years, arrogance and anger are not a winning formula for making friends and influencing people.
So I meditate every day. I go to therapy every week. I practice deep breathing.
But dammit, these stupid Republicans really piss me off.
What a bunch of jerks.
What a bunch of hypocrites.
What a bunch of flaming assholes.
They talk about sparing future generations from crushing debt even as they savage education budgets across the nation.
Their formula for helping kids is to keep them ignorant. (I hate to be cynical, Dear Reader, but I think this is all part of their strategy for growing the GOP.)
I’m spending the month visiting four of the best urban school districts in the country. Invariably, they are being forced to do more with less and less and less.
Teachers and administrators — none of them in danger of joining the 1 percent — have been forced to take pay cuts.
What kind of society cuts money for teachers and students?
The uncivilized kind.
The Republican kind.
Here’s hoping the children of today’s Republicans get a better education than their parents did.
